headache...

...yesterday was a hard day but productive and i re-learned how to make a pattern. i completed two out of four jobs that i set myself to do so it was a day of half and halves. today has been bit of a poop day. things didn't run as smoothly as they could have in the print room but we shall see how it goes tomorrow with the actual printing of the above image and old designs. for now, i am off for a bath, to read 'murder she wrote' - aye they have Jessica in book form as well! this evening i have some sewing illustrations to draw out. may get the story out and/or the paints later on. last night i went to bed at 2am, i quite like working late. there is a simple unstressful way of things during the hours of the late night time.

day two...

...of me and me the desk. we had an alright day yesterday. the first loaf of toast badges were not good enough, they looked a tad pale so i did them again. the cappuccino badges came out fine. i also made some actual triple chocolate fudge muffins and they taste very nice. today i am working on new and old screen print designs to take into the print room tomorrow and i have thus booked a table on which to print said screen for Thursday. ebay listing isn't happening as planned as i keep having mini lie-ins on a morning. i used to get up at 7am for work but now i am getting up around 9am. it is my first week off work and thus feels like a holiday at the moment. i keep doing things so all should fit into place within next couple of weeks.

29 March 2010

this weekend...

...Katie and I will be at 'A Cheap Affair' again, down at Islington Mill. all the details are above in that there poster. we will be there with our shiny illustration based handmade things. i am currently making some more toast and cappuccino badges as stock is low. today is my first day as a full-time illustrator! yay! i have set a new to-do list, top of the list is the website and portfolio images, and new print/craft items that stem from my work. my last day at work was Friday and since then I have been semi-resting. there are more items to list on eBay this week and other bits and bobs to do but all in good time as i don't want to start off with a big headache.

REMEMBER - SUNDAY at ISLINGTON MILL - COOLIO!

We will be displaying our usual collection of shiny wares and there will be cake and coffee at the cafe, loads of other stalls selling affordable gifts and treats while DJ's and/or musicians play some of that there music.

discovered...

...the paint box last night. i last painted one of these in 2008 and thought it was time to paint some more as they are quite a favourite. this time they have found some new friends. the sherbet lemon fish. this painting and another one with little purple fish along with everything else, will be for sale today at the Chorlton Library and if it doesn't find a new home it will be on the big online revamp soon.

TODAY - CHORLTON LIBRARY - 12.30 until 3.30pm - SWIM ON BY AND WAVE HELLO!

19 March 2010

this Sunday...

...Katie and I will be at Chorlton Library between the hours of 12.30pm and 3.30pm at a Craft Fair and Bake Sale which has been organised by 'Threads and Jewels'. The event is raising funds for the Haiti Appeal. Please come and say hello if you have the time. up above in the drawing - there we are or were at the March 'A Cheap Affair' trying to count using our fingers. we used a calculator in the end.

I am drinking wine whilst working on the writing for the words of the story. i used to drink a bottle of wine to help me write my reports for my administration nvq. hiccup.

17 March 2010

doing the do...

...and drawing. this evening has been and is being spent at the desk. i am trying to work on the story best i can. cogs need oiling, words need working out, colour needs painting and i am constantly thinking about the cafe. thumbnailing and watching Eddie Izzard running is the plan for the rest of this evening. i am not sure what to write to be fair. the weather is getting nicer to sit outside though not much drawing was done on today's outing - more talking about drawing was done which was nice.
badges...

...a little picture of the recent badges i have been making and selling. some of them are old favourites, the buns, teeth and acorns while the others are fairly new designs. the cloud and cappuccino were first 'out' at the Christmas markets, while the sneaky foxes were new for the last 'A Cheap Affair'. Katie and I will be sharing a stall at their next event and we will also be at the Chorlton Library this Sunday. More details to follow. I have been a bit of a busy bee today but in a slow moving way, quite sloth like.

16 March 2010

nine days to go...

...i am counting them right down. a page dedicated mainly to the shopping and eating that i did last week-book, vegetables, fruit, yogurts and chicken pies. i have been so slow in being productive due to the eleven hour shifts that i have been doing at the cafe. i shouldn't grumble as they are soon to be over. the story hasn't seen my pencil for couple of days but much thinking has been done word wise. this is the bit i am super stuck on. i have a day off tomorrow but there is much to-do. Katie and I are sharing another craft stall this Sunday in Chorlton, Manchester. details to follow tomorrow.

10 March 2010

one line...

...on the train to Huddersfield one day. i thought it had been a long while since i last drew some scenery so i did just that. i think it may it will help with the story - backgrounds and buildings. i like the field of sheep. yesterday i finally got my hands on the new Oliver Jeffers book, The Heart and the Bottle. I read it too quickly and will have to read it slowly and properly when i have time in order to soak it in. today i spent time being productive and lazy. in other news, i will be working at the cafe for the very last time on Friday 26th March! As Joey and Chandler once said to Rachel in Friends, who funnily enough worked in a cafe, though that once was nicer than mine even though its not real, 'You need the fear'. fear is not scary but i am embracing it. first on my list is a bicycle and a suitable part time job.

amazing...

...first seen over on another blog and so I thought it would be nice to share.

double trouble adventures...

...here is Katie and our bits and bobs on our first ever shared table. we had a great time today at 'a cheap affair' and would like to say thank you to the lovely people of Cheap and to those who came, talked and bought our work. we spent last night making loads of badges and as a result we were very tired today at our stall. apologies if we talked nonsense. there was a band called 'stealing sheep' who i decided to draw while they played and they sang a song called 'lion show'. cool. i really like how they sing and the many instruments they played. pictures in lion form to follow shortly.

05 March 2010

cell-a-bray-shon time...

...come on! drawn after i attended a birthday meal at the beginning of February. i could have drawn a double page spread of this but thought one page was enough for now. i am listen to the R of Williams and getting stuck into making some badges. i think the video where he is dressed up as a rabbit is cool but he would have been better off being a lion. a plan? i couldn't do anything last night after work as i banged my elbow on a stupid door handle and it really hurt - in the end, i went to bed very early and so an evening was wasted. boo.

SUNDAY - BE THERE AND BE COOL - ISLINGTON MILL!

03 March 2010

moving...

...a page from the never-ending lion sketchbook. i have been doodling from/via simple observations made while in the flat watching telly. i have not been able to go out round Mancland drawing for a while due to the work rota. i should get to go out soon i hope. i also keep at it in the big sketchbook but as before, i am reluctant to share these. this evening i am drawing a couple of things off the to-do list and hopefully making some new badges for the 'a cheap affair' event on SUNDAY.

02 March 2010

press play...

...trying to get back in to it after a long period of time spent at the cafe. six day working week last week and six day working week this week. i am a bit hyper at the moment and running round like a headless chicken isn't helping me at all. up days, down days and exhausted days. i would love a nap. not really had a proper nap in ages. the diary is seeing some of the most busiest lists of the year but 'listing' helps me out best it can. i am off to work on the big desk. this one has a lamp on it.

'A CHEAP AFFAIR' is on this Sunday at the ISLINGTON MILL between the hours of noon and six pm! please come on down and see the first ever ladysnail and Inspector marmalade craft stall of mmm-ness!
