midday in the mall...

...in costa coffee. today is artlab day. am going to go along ad clean my silkscreen ready for some postcard designs or whatever i draw tonight. these lions are some that i saw while i was having a rest from wandering round like a lost sheep in the mall. i looked in some shops but am on strict saving mission at the moment for a super duper sewing machine. i quite like the lion on his mobile. a guy was watching me doodle-he is the one in top right corner of the square page. the one on the receipt is me. i look a bit odd as a lion and i drew another one with a bag of books which is more like me. it is wearing a pair of boots. i quite liked doing this little doodle mission.
in the night-time...

...draw while i was half asleep and not feeling very well. i quite like the pirate lion so i think i am going to draw him on a 'wanted' pirate poster. ain't too sure yet as i am yearning for my reference books and sketchbooks! i cant cope without my doodles. the people at uni will be finished with them by Thursday so as soon as i can i will be rescuing them. i quite like drawing these lions. the one with the goatee was inspired by Brett and Murray from 'flight of the conchords' of which i love at the moment. my cacti army is growing slowly, i now have five of them. i will post a pic of them shortly. may be a photo or a doodle. i am off to the library today to enlarge these lion pages as i draw very small. i haven't decided whether this will be the copper etch day or a doodle day to find new inspiration for my lions- like ones with hats on or ones that wear or do different things.

a pride of lions...

...a couple of pages from the little sketchbook. some doodles i drew while on the train the other day. a bit of observational drawing of glasses and conversation. as usual the images are getting repetitive but this is not a bad thing as the character is developing. i can see that my illustrations are similar to ones that i have been looking at. inspiration is a good thing and a bad thing as these influences are helping me to find my own way of drawing things. i am hoping to make my lion out of fabric over the next couple of weeks alongside a new batch of things. i think the lion will be a new step in the right direction but we shall see where he fits in with the rest of the characters. i may have to photocopy him and colour him in soon and add more doodles to the pages. i am hoping tomorrow that i will get round to finally drawing him and his allotment on the piece of copper i prepared the other day.
