today...

...was watercolour day. i made myself paint. i found it very difficult to do and i don't think i like watercolours. they are quick and easy to use but i don't really know anything about washes or layering up the colours. i painted an A4 sheet of lions up and they look okay, it is just that they all look a tad brown, yellow or tan. i bought some Bockingford paper to paint on but it needs stretching. i am hoping to get back into the print room next week but pennies are very tight at the moment. i might have to do a small lino print at the weekend if there is time inbetween all the stitching.

They are colourful and cute, Debs : )

I especially love the wet-on-wet effect you have made with the limey sherbert fish : )

I think they're looking pretty good :)
Getting the texture of the paint right is hard, I find.
Have you thought about using potatochop for colouring the lions? Like you did with the weather man piccy. I like painting a big watercolour wash and then using it as a texture for digital collage - when you're painting without having to stay inside the lines, I find it frees you up a lot

Lovely textures on the golds and browns, contrasting with the flat lemon yellow and pencil work, looking good Deb!

wow! thank you for the positive comments. colour seems like the way forward. duh!!! just need to get into the swing of it all and keep some kind of uniformed illustration going with regards to the backgrounds and characters now i guess. dx.

I like the bottom lion. He looks a little confused, like he's wandered onto a stage and doesn't know what's going on, but is still holding up the triumphant plant pot.
