etching copper...

...on wednesday i had a little idea to etch copper as with watching other people work in the print room i felt like doing some etching - something other than screen printing. i have not done any etching since October. i thought about etching a teapot and and the surrounding space round the design so i could emboss it into paper. the edinburgh etch solution was working very slow and the teapot had been in there for over twenty hours. in the end i was too impatient and we asked some man in metal work to cut round the shape. the edges just need tidying up with another stay in the etch. i know the next time i try this process - either next week or the week after, exactly how long it takes and so i will be able to prepare properly. i will be able to organise other stuff that i can do while waiting for the edinburgh etch to do its stuff.

I agree, would be lovely to make somthing with the little kettle and any other items you make for printing, jewellery, tags, little sculptures.
