spike milligan is great...

...since discovering his poems last week in the nation's favourite children's poems book, i feel like my nonsense has been properly switched back on. his poems are not particularly long but are as daft as some of the things that i used to write and doodle about in my sketchbooks before. so armed with a paintbrush and the new watercolours i thought i would dabble a little in the big square sketchbook. i have drawn these just recently the other week or so in the A4 lined book with the trusty mechanical pencil so i decided to paint them out this evening. i think next time i will try using a big paint brush and maybe some inks as the handwriting was a bit time consuming. i could feel the perfectionist side of me coming through when really i would like to be taking a few more risks with it all just to free it all up. i started drawing televisions at the end of the second year and being inspired by spike i thought id have a go at poetry. i think it is a classic in the making.

note-the other two things aren't poems and are just things i like to draw.

Is it true that Spike has "I told you I was ill" on his tombstone?!
Hilarious man!

They're fab :D Really lovely quality of line. I especially like the tv with the little poem. I reckon these would do really well on etsy if you go back to selling on there - little screenprinted cards/notelets/stationery
